STONE REPLACEMENT

Over time and with poor maintenance, buildings can suffer and lose details and important distinguishing features. We at Birkshaw are capable of reproducing these historically correct details, utilizing traditional methods and materials, while adhering to the Secretary of the Interiors Standards of Preservation and Replication.

MORTAR ANALYSIS

No two buildings are the same. We may recommend a petrographic analysis of the mortar to determine mixture, color, the composition of pastes and binders, granular particles: including sizes and percentages. With knowledge gleaned from acid reduction and microscopic analysis of the mortar, we can replicate it as closely as possible to the original.

Birkshaw Building Conservation are experts in the conservation and replication of fine plaster work, including but not limited to: running of ceiling cornices, mold taking and replication of fine features: embellishments, capitals, pilasters, corbels, and  sconces, etc.
